The Band-tailed Pigeon (Columba fasciata) is a forest pigeon of the American west, occurying from conifer forests in the Pacific northwest south into montane pine-oak forests of the Rocky Mountain southwest. The top two shots on this page show a Band-tailed Pigeon foraging on the ground in the Huachuca Mountains of southeast Arizona in May, 2008. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
