Bordered Patch
Chlosyne lacinia
The Bordered Patch (Chlosyne lacinia) is a common butterfly across much of the southwestern United States. The first two shots shown here were both taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas. The first shot was taken in April, 2003, with a Canon 10D and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and a 1.4X extender. The 2nd shot of a pair in copula was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender in August, 2007.
The Bordered Patch shown here was at Santa Ana N.W.R., Hidalgo Co., Texas, in October, 2008. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
